Custom Appraisal
I'm building a new bike from scratch (I'll be completely done this Saturday or Sunday!). I've got everything I need to title it (I'm in Texas, and the requirements are pretty relaxed), and I've started calling insurance companies. I can easily get cheap liability only coverage, but I'm really interested in getting comprehensive and collision. Most of the comanies I've talked to have mentioned an appraisal, but no one seems to know anything about the companies that do that. Does anyone have comments about what to look for in an appraisal company? Does anyone have any specific places to go near Austin, Texas?
Thanks!
Thanks!
Custom MC shops are qualified to write appraisals for value. Most can tell by looking at them others may want receipts.

There are two types of appraisal, replacement cost and value. Two different animals. We all know these bikes are holding any value right now so a value appraisal will be low. A replacement cost appraisal is the actual amount it would take to duplicate the MC. Some insurance companies leave this out or claim they are one in the same, they are not. Choose the one that suits you best and ask the carrier of choice about that type of coverage.
