alright so im getting ready to get my car license and i wanna go for my motorcycle license right \\; after i take the written car test or after i get my \\; permit. i was looking at bikes and im thinking of buying a softail custom. I dont know much about motorcycles yet so any advice on anything would be good and if i think up any questions i guess ill post them in this thread.
There has to be a hundred threads on this.

My opinion, take the MSF or Harley course then buy a smaller bike first.
 \\;
Otherwise you will be a statistic on why motorcycle death rates are so high, especially if you dont even drive a car yet and have no street bike experience.
 \\;
The danger is half you, and half everyone else on the road (big cars who dont see or even care about your existance)
 \\;
Sorry to be blunt, but I am right on this.

I agree with with mike. I started out with a 750 then to a 1100 ( both Yamaha Viragos) then I just bought an 08 Custom. Get a year or two until your belt on something smaller first. Get the feel for how a bike rides, the power behind it. A Harley is a powerful machine. No doubt about that. I personally would wait. Just my $.02 worth.
 \\;
They are a temping motorcycle to buy. They are, in my opinion, one the best looking bikes Harley has out right now. But again I am partial!!
 \\;
Take a good look through this Forum. This is an overwhelming amount info and a lot of people out there who are willing to help you out.
 \\;
Hope we didn't burst any bubbles, but just take your time. There will always be that perfect Harley waiting for you.
 \\;
Good luck with your testing and let us know how you did.

Depends on how responsible you are. If you can be that, then you might do alright. However, since this is your first, I would say first you should ask yourself why you want one. 2nd, that has been previously mentioned, take the MSF course. 3rd maybe rent one for a weekend and see what it is that you are about to embark on. FXSTC is a great bike though, anyway you look at it.
agree with the above..maybe a used Sporty until you have some miles under your belt? \\;
 \\;
FXSTC is great, but alot of bike to handle if you're not comfortable riding yet.
 \\;
Good luck no matter which way you decide!
