The new "4X4" 100 inch RevTech is supposed to be a good motor. It is made in Korea. I have heard from many that they have ALOT of power......as they are set up with the right cams, compression, etc. I wouldn't hesitate to have one, BUT.......I would buy a Harley EVO first!! About $3100 for a brand new silver 80 inch EVO from the MOCO...

Some of the motors had cylinder sleeve problems. They were cast wrong which let the sleeves migrate in the aluminum.

Default Rev Tech 100 c.i. motors

I bought a bike last year that had a rev tech engine on it. Basically it was a Harley Heritage Softail with the Rev Tech engine and Baker tranny. Bike only had 3,000 miles on it. Got it for a great price. Have had nothing but problems with it since. At first I thing the problems were due to the fact that the bike sat for a long time w/0 being ridden. But had to re-jet the carb 3 times to get it running decent. Then at 5,000 miles started knocking. Spent hours trying to pinpoint the problem with no luck. Took it to local bike shop. They popped open the inspection plate on bottom of cases (nice feature) and told me connecting rod bearings were worn. Pulled engine. Found nothing wrong at all mechanical except blown head gasket which I think was causing the noise I heard. OK, bottom line. I'm gonna put engine back together and "probably " keep it. But if it acts up AT ALL I'll never buy another one. ALSO, IF YOU READ THESE FORUMS YOU WILL NOT FIND VERY MUCH POSITIVE ABOUT REV TECH ENGINES. I have a friend who has the exact engine I do and he's never had the first problem with it. But he's religious about oil changes, synthetic oils, maintenance, etc. if I had it to do over again I would have looked for a stock Harley engine. Good luck and stay clear of the rev techs if you can.

Got an '03 Gen II 100 c.i. Rev Tech with 5,000 miles on it. It's tore down . . .o-rings on cylinders weeping oil. Looking for an upgrade or replacement for the o-rings. Will probably keep the bike. But the scoop on these engines is really mixed. Read the forums. People either love 'em or really hate 'em. After alot of reading and my own experience I think they're a good motor IF you keep your hand off the throttle and run them as you would a stock Harley, eliminate the hole shots, racing, etc. Good luck.

Unhappy Rev Tech O-Rings

Anyone know where I can get better o-rings for my 100 c.i. rev tech motor. These are the top and bottom o-rings that fit the cylinder to the cases and the cylinder to the head. Read about lots of failures of these even though rev tech brags about how great the technology is.

Since my original post I ended buying a bike with a Revtech. Figured if it blew I'd start over and get something else. Mine has about 3000 miles so thats certainly not enough to make a call unless it gives me trouble.
