Default need some help with overheating

My brother is having trouble with his bike overheating. His bike is custom chopper with only a 2 qt. oil pan to it. The engine is Revtech 110 with a mikani 45 carb. After 20 miles of cruising the rear cyl turns off due to heat. We just changed the oil to Mobile 1 20/50 synthetic. This winter we are going to put on a oil cooler, but does anyone have any suggestions on another type or weight of oil that will keep the engine temperature down???? Someone once told me that if a take out the 20/50 and put synthetic 60 weight in I will solve the problem. Any suggestions??

any help would be AWESOME!!!!

Dont know if you will ever get the temps down with a 2 quarter, oil cooler or not unless its huge.Same with the type/brand oils you use.Go towards a larger oil tank.

No oil will lower your temperatures. A cooler will help, but I feel the two quart oil capacity is your problem. It would be very easy to build a larger oil bag and the engine will certainly be a lot happier.

you would think it would be easier... but it is all molded in... ALL Of it... i would have to run another oil bag and pump... will try a heavy duty cooler first to see what that does for us... thanks guys!!!

I use this on my custom and it works well on keeping the oil cool. Send me a e-mail if you dont want to go thru e-bay.

sounds like the builder was building a, show only bike, you would think any builder would know how much oil it takes to cool a motor down.

also might want to make sure hes not running lean. if the custom in the pic is his then it would be a shame to have a great looking bike like that and not be able to ride it.
