I could never get the clutch adjustment just right on a couple of American Ironhorse bikes, and now I know why. I was using the Harley method - loosen cable, turn pushrod adjuster in until just seated, back out 1/2 to 1 turn, and lock it down. It was never quite right.
A little more research is all I needed. The Rivera Primo clutch requires the adjuster to be backed out only 1/4 turn. Its perfect now! Smooth precise shifts, easy click into neutral while stopped, and lubing the clutch cable and lever make it all smooth as silk!
I back off a quarter 1/4 turn on my HD too.Thats how I've always done Harleys....sometimes a little less even.............as far as I know thats always been the standard.Glad it's working better now

Well then before with it out that far it made the lever hard and finding neutral impossible right. I'm sure you know this but make sure your definately not touching the rod. Clutch will slip and never completely engauge 4th will tell ya that. They are touchy on customs mine is set off about an 1/8th.
I spent all of Sunday trying to adjust my clutch on my 85 Ironhead and yes it is hard to shift and impossible to find neutral. Can you tell me your step by step procedures so I can get mine right.

I've only done Softails w/EVO's and TC88 motors. This is a Sporty right? I recently got a Sporty bobber. I hate the adjustment on it. Adjust it warmed up I believe is what I did.
