My battery dies after a few days. I disconnected one wire at a time and check the voltage between the negetave cable and battery ground post. problem is the DC wire from my regulator to the battery. No drain on the battery until I connect this wire. DC wire insulated well and not grounded. The battery is new as is the regulator. Quality HD parts only. I tested my stator and it checks ok. The drain registers with the stator plugged or unplugged. All grounds good and clean. Any ideas what it could be?

I'm assuming it's a single phase system ( two wires from the stator, not three ), disconnect the regulator from the stator, with a test light, probe the terminals on the regulator, if the test light 'lights', you have regulator 'bleed', replace the regulator.
I will try it tomorrow. Do I connect the light between terminals? The regulator I replaced had the same problem. Yes, it is a single phase. Thank you for the help and timely response.

Disconnect the plug between the reg and stator, probe the reg terminals, shouldn't be power on either pin.
Use the test light as you would for any other circuit, ground the 'ground' clamp of the test light, use the probe on the reg plug pins. ( This is done with ign switch off by the way ).
Something is draining your battery while the bike is off, reg bleed is a possibility.
If your regulator is shot again, something is taking them out and you need to look deeper into your charging system, starting with an inspection of the reg 'ground' side.
