Biggest Battery?
Does anyone know who makes a battery with more than 375 CA?
I put a Revtech 110" motor in my Dyna project bike complete with a four speed trans, the largest starter that will fit the four speed is a 1.4KW. The battery I have does not have the umph to start the bike......I had to install the kicker just so I can get the bike off the compression stroke so it will fire...I installed the high torque Spyke starter but it did not help. If my battery (which is new)is not completely charged there is no chance of the bike turning over. I have been looking around for a stronger battery but have no luck finding one....I figure there must be somebody building a stronger battery.

375CCA should be enough to start your 110". Check your batt cable size and especially the grounds.Iv'e had zero problems with my 124" using 375CCA bat and stock Harley starter.I did install very heavy fine strand cables # 2,and keep a battery tender hooked up all the time. Also have compression releases.
Well, thats the main problem......the Revtech motors do not have compression release valves. I could put some in but that would void my 30K warranty. I would think that most people would use these motors with a 5 speed trans and a 2.4KW starter, then there would not be a problem. I leave a battery tender on all the time but the battery still needs a little more juice to crank the motor.

I would check with Rev Tech to see what they might have to say.My guess without being there is the motor might be a little tight,or the timing curve is a little aggresive. There are still more options to help start a big inch motor.Starter ring and pinion, 64/10 I believe is the combo, for a start.Hang in there!
What I have discovered is that if I remove the plugs and crank the motor over a few times and then put the plugs back in the motor then spins freely and the motor fires right up. If you then shut it off, it will not start again until you remove the plugs, spin the motor and then put the plugs back in.....I hate to have to carry a spark plug tool everywhere I go.
I have contacted the tech service at CustomChrome (they are the dealer for RevTech) each time I talk with them they say to adjust the plug gap.....I explained that its not a matter of the motor not starting when it does spin, its a matter of the motor not turning over at all.
Its almost like the motor locks up, stuck in the compression stroke.....and will not start until you release that compression.

With out a few tools and actually standing by your machine it is hard to diagnose the problem. You must have very good compression, and I wonder what kind of ampheres you are drawing when trying to start the motor. Those 110"'s were built to start without comp releases, yours should start too.Maybe your starter is dragging.Without doing a couple of tests it is impossible to say what is going on.Call Rev-Tech directly,if you can or have some tests done on your starting system. You have to start eliminating some questions.Good Luck
Hi. Got just the battery for you. The Odyssey Battery model PC535 if you have a wet battery type YB16-B usually found on pre 97 models or PC545 on later and current models. The Pre 99 FLH can take the PC680MJ and post 99 to present can take the PC925LMJ. Odyssey are manufactured in the USA to a military spec, they are totally sealed and will not leak, they use pure lead technology and give 3 times the cranking power for an equivalent sized conventional battery. I know because I am the UK distributor and the PC535 will start a Rev Tech 1700 motor with no decompressor valves with ease. Saw it do it with my own eyes. have a look on my website www.knightbatteries.com I've got a PC545 on my 35th Ann Superglide, starts first throw every time.
