Thought I'd take a shot at a custom build. I'm calling it my Barley (BMW-Harley...get it?). Pretty cool if I don't say so myself:
I do have to push pretty hard on the left handlebar to keep it from leaning right, but I'm thinking about adding about 20 pounds to the flywheel. That ought to have her tracking like she's on rails. At any rate, she sure runs better than when she had that sputtering old shovelhead.

I think Barf-ley would be a more accurate name....One question-why?
Now Clayvis, no need to be ugly. You must be one of those snooty purists.
I just wanted to build something special and always felt those Beemer engines were so smooth. Mounting it this way had two advantages. First, it made it easier to use a chain drive instead of that heavy BMW driveshaft. Second, it eliminated the torque effect that BMW's typically have.
OK, I took a second look. I must say, it does look better than a regular BMW. They always remind me of Hammer Head Sharks....( I live in Florida) I do appreciate your obvious mechanical skills...but I am somewhat of a purist when it comes to Harleys. As long as YOU like it, that's what counts.
I agree about bmw bikes being smooth, never owned one but have owned over 50 classic bimmer cars...but I like seeing something kinda crazy looking like that, and must honor your skills...
