I dont see any reason to..its all personal preference.
Some school of thought says using circles will cause swirls. If that is going to happen then it still will going in straight lines.
There are concours people who believe you should wax the way the wind blows..ie front to back on car hoods and roofs and up and down on sides. I have seen no evidence that this does anything.
If you are using a straight wax then use a foam pad.
