Default Detailing painted surfaces

Here's a trick I use to gently cut down on fine scratches and swirls.
Try McQuires Scratch X 2.0 on a drill driven soft foam pad such as supplied in the 3M polishing kit.
The Scratch X is very forgiving in that it doesn't just keep cutting through paint or gloss. When the Scratch X turns from white to oily, it's done cutting until you add more or wipe off and inspect your efforts to see if you need to do more. I have been doing this to my scoot for at least 4 years and have no dulled out areas. It's really gentle and visually effective in getting rid of fine scratches. Once done, wax with your favorite brand. Don't use this method on flat painted surfaces. It will tend to gloss flat paints. I've done tanks, fenders, belt guards and primary chain covers. Especially effective on gloss black surfaces that tend to show even the smallest of rubs. LenBoyLo
