Swirl Marks in Vivid Black again...
I have a black Street Glide and wow I have a ton of swirl marks. I want to get them out and not cover them up. I don't think I need to clay it but I know I need to strip the wax.
So I plan on doing to bellow and need recommendations on swirl remover.. Can or should I do something different?
Best way to strip the wax? 50/50 alcohol and water???
What should I use next to get the swirls marks out? I plan on using my craftsman 6 inch polisher.
Polish it next with "Klasse All In One" Should I use something else?
Seal it with "Klasse High Gloss Sealant Glaze"
Then Wax it with Some "NXT"
Polishing will remove old wax. ISO/Water will not hurt but really is not necessary if you are polishing. ISO/Water is a good way to check your work while polishing to make sure defects are gone and not covered up.
Craftsman Polisher? Is this one of those machines that use bonnets over a foam pad? If so they will not remove defects. You will need more power and faster speeds to break down abrassive polishes.
Klasse products are fine. AIO is a chemical polish and will remove slight micromarring but will not do much for swirls. There is some debate as to how much cleaning action NXT has. IMO dont use it over SG as it may remove it.
For the future, re-evaluate your washing and drying techniques and products. A good 90% of swirls come from that.
I could explain how their swirl remover etc. works but you would be better off just going to their site. http://www.zainostore.com/Merchant2/...roduct_Count=4
I am going to head out to the store now and see what they have. I will buy a good carnuba wax with no cleaners in it and pick up a clay bar too. Im having a hard time finding a good polish in the stores so it looks like I might have to order some. Thanks for the link and idea to use Dawn TM (I actualy knew that and tottal forgot). But since I am polishing I guess I don't have to do that...
Good polishes to use by hand are hard to find locallly. ScratchX being about the best in a parts store.
This is an excellent polish to use by hand:

I know Sal says to use Dawn to strip wax..that along with cotton towels has been on his site for 20 years. Personally it probably wont hurt to do that once a year but if you are polishing its not needed. The long term effects of dawn on seals and gaskets isstill under controversy.

Remember to use only a small piece of clay. Break off a small portion and knead it in your hand to small aroun the size of your palm. That should be plenty to do your bike. Keep kneading as needed. If you drop it....throw it away.

Polish
Klasse AIO
Klasse SG
(next day) Wax
Waxing after SG will giving a warming effect. You may decide after using SG that you prefer the look without wax.

I am not familiar with Wizards. It does say on the site that its a pre wax cleaner which would lead me to believe it is a polish and not a filler. It could turn out to be a good find.

Suspect. Your tank looks great but what worries me is when I went to the site is said it permanently "FILLS" the scratches. I want to get them out...
NOTE: SCRATCH REMOVER is NOT a quick fix cover up that will wash off or temporarily hide marks on paint; hand rubbing or buffing is required.
[/b]DIRECTIONS:[/b]
Shake bottle before use.
Always begin on a clean, cool dry surface.
For hand application, apply SCRATCH REMOVER to a small folded cloth and rub into area with a firm back-and-forth motion until area is restored, reapplying as necessary.
For machine use, apply SCRATCH REMOVER generously to pad or surface, working one small area at a time. Apply pressure to speed up the process, moving slowly and reapplying as needed. For fastest results, use a high speed buffer with WIZARDS #11203 wool blend pad or #11204 foam pad.
Protect the cleaned surface with WIZARDS SHINE MASTER #11033 or WIZARDS SUPREME SEAL #11500. Maintain gloss with MIST-N-SHINE Detailer #01214 and MULTI-FIBER detail cloth #11420.
