Default Chrome heat shield


Dropped a detailing rag on my hot exhaust heat shield and burned the fibers into the shield and was wondering if anyone know what to use to get it off without damaging the chrome

I would try a wet sos pad

Go to the auto store and get some mothers or meguirs chrome polish. SOS pad will scratch the chrome and if you do it hard enough turn it satin. I melted some nylon off the top of my glove (trying to warm my hands at a light). The chrome polish took it off easy peasy, and did not leave any swirl marks

I have used sos pads on chrome since I was a little kid cleaning the family cars.
I have never seen it scratch or damage any chrome. Either you are a monster or your chrome is junk.
