Default Lower Fork Legs

So today I learned what a bit of Mother's aluminum polish and microfiber towels can do. I thought for sure I was going to need lots of sandpaper grits and maybe a buffer, but the difference in the right fork came from just a whole heck of a lot of polishing and buffing. Finally, my skill at rubbing things off has paid off for me. I just removed the fender and attacked. Kind of shocked at how well it worked. A ways to go yet, but definitely working.

Nice job. I have a '94 Electra Glide, and everything on that bike was beautiful except the fork legs. I did the same thing you did.

Most of the clear coat was worn off or otherwise a mess.

Thanks! I love those early Nineties, late Eighties bikes ... They are works of art and seem even more "metallic" to me. I know today's bikes are good, but the more recent years look a bit plastic I think, even if they aren't.

Not sure in my case. Maybe? Could explain why it took so long to get to a shine lol. But the bike was already 16 years old when I got it, so I imagine it had worn down some.

That looks really, really good! I attempted the same treatment on my 2003 but the pitting was real bad. Ended up with WillyShiny front forks and gotta say, if I had more patience I may have been able to replicate your work. But then again, I’m OCD and it would have driven me nuts getting there.

very nice looking.

Thanks so much. My own obsessions and compulsions kept me in the garage for way too many hours. I couldn't stop once I started. I may need to start going to meetings or something.
