The one I purchased from Wal-Mart for about $20 does what it says it'll do. It throws out a ****-ton of foam onto anything you aim it at! I use it on everything I own.
So you don't recommend using a little pressure washer (1950psi), I snow foam then give the tank & guards (the painted surfaces) a rub with a microfibre mit/towel, then blow it off with a little pressure wash, then dry with a little leaf blower. Then detailer or ceramic wax and the bike comes up like new I've done this for about a year now, this is how my local dealer does it, I hope I'm not damaging anything?

little late to the conversation but i'd considered and started using a foaming gun as a prewash
i've gotten a lot of dirty bikes, and on those bikes are endless nooks and crannies where dirt can sit and hide
i bought a iK Foam Pro 2, and my first foam was Carpro's Lift
first time I tried it, i pulled the battery and foamed the bike from tip to stern, then I rinsed it thoroughly
what this did was lift some of the contaminants off the surface, it's a touchless prewash.......after that i hand washed, my go to wash is Reset...nice and slick and very effective for lifting contaminants and leaving nothing but clear coat
I have been using this for a couple years now and I find it works great to get the presoak foam applied and most of the dirt just rinses off afterwards. I just use some foam soap I got from Costco that gets heavily diluted. My bike is ceramic coated, though - so a lot will rinse off without a need to hand wash. I generally only wash my bike every month or two - so letting the foam do its things keeps teh scratches at bay
