2020 ultra limited with black factory rims. Have used Stockton rim cleaner from J&P in the past. Seemed to do a good job. It's went up in price since the last time I got some. Any recommendations for the job that is as good or better than Stockton? Tried the search option but didn't find any results.
Sonax wheel cleaner worked very well for me (plus I bought one of those wheel brushed from autogeek). It’s now available in most auto parts stores, so I figured I’d give it a shot. The Sonax instructions say not to use on motorcycle wheels, but I think they are referring to spoked and/or aluminum wheels. I used it on my black Street Glide wheels and it worked fine…
BTW…I should mention that it’s kinda pricey, I paid 20 something bucks for the bottle I bought
Sonax or Tuna are the best I have used. Both have cleaned up really Nasty BMW and corvette wheels no problem. Neither is "cheap", but they do the job extremely well.
If you clean the wheels with either one of the cleaners, just keep up with the wheels and you don't have to use them every time. Coating wheels is right up there with coating paint with making maintence easier. https://www.carpro-us.com/wheels-tri...eaner-1l-34oz/
this is after I used just a regular wash on the power coated rims on my bmw, k1600gt it took 4 hours to remove 5 years of neglect from the prior owner
as stated above, Sonax is the stuff
this will get cleaned once more with Sonax, then i'll rinse thoroughly, dry it with a blower, then prep and coat with Gyeon's Q2 Rim.....it makes powder coated rims look wet and glossy, adds great protection, very good for high heat situations...It works great on powder coated and painted engine parts as well, any kind of finish...it will take the heat
once it's cleaned and properly coated, future cleanings will take about 10 minutes, rather than 4 hrs
I actually used Gyeon Cancoat on mine. I had some left over from the previous time I coated my bike and it worked pretty good on the rims. As eaglefan1 stated, it made them a lot easier to clean the next time. That, and this brush: the Speed Master wheel Brush
If I’m not mistaken, the models with TPMS have the 90 degree valves from the factory. I plan on buying a pair before my next tire change…
this is a pic of a bmw rim
both my '17 and '23 street glides had tpms and they were 90 degree valves
+1 on cancoat for rims, prior to trying Gyeon's speicific rim coating, i used that on my '17 SG rims, it did a great job of keeping them protected and they were easy to clean....when you work with both products, you'll find they have very similar properties
Full effect or the beast. The beast is designed for no agitation. It seems stranger then the full effect but on nasty wheels, agitation is still going to be done.
