Default Finally Did it…almost

Today, I finally got around to doing some paint correction and polishing on my 2006 Heritage Classic. The paint wasn’t bad, no swirling and a few light scratches so not much need for a lot of correction (not bad for 18 year old paint.

I used Griots Garage Correcting Cream with a yellow Griots pad, followed by CarPro Reflect (thanks Eagle fan) with a CarPro gloss pad and it turned out great. I was going to use Can Coat but I was running out of daylight so I decided to use Wolfgang SIO2 instead. I was kind of disappointed that the depth wasn’t as good as carnival wax but oh well, it still looks 100 percent better.

Now for the “almost “. Since I was running out of daylight, I didn’t do the rear fender. I didn’t have the time to remove and replace the sissy bar so I could get it polished behind the mounting brackets. I’ll get to it next week when the weather warms up. It’s supposed to be chilly and cloudy through the weekend with a chance of rain over the weekend. I’ll get back to it next week and also post pics when finished.

Thanks to Eagle Fan and Caffeine Buzz and everyone else who gave me advice

Looking forward to the pictures! There's nothing better than a shimmering pool of paint after a good detail.

I finally had the time and weather to finally finish my first detail job. IMHO, it didn’t turn out half bad especially since I don’t have an enclosed garage or carport. I wanted to get some pics before sun got too low so the pics aren’t great but they are ok.

When I get more decent weather, I’ll be starting to detail my 18 RGU.

Thanks. It came out good but I am disappointed I couldn’t get more depth in the paint. I guess that I should be happy that 17 1/2 year old paint came out as well as it did. I had the tins painted in July 2007 and a lot of miles in those years.
