Looked around and havnt found a straight answer.. I have have the grey engine... pretty sure its a powder coat grey. I have some stains and even simplegreen doesnt wanna lift um... What are you guys usein?? Thnaks
Rick
I, too, have the same type of engine with a similar problem. In addition to cleaning the exposed engine surfaces, does anyone have a recommendation on the best way to clean hard residue out between the crevices or finsin the engine? Anyone used a nylon or stainless steel brush in these areas? If so, where did you get them.
Try shout laundry stain remover and use a paint brush to get it in between the fins on the engine. Rinse off THOROUGHLY with a hose. Hit it with pig spit if so desired...
i have used some acid (castrol greased lighting - STRONG stuff) on mine, but it looks like i dripped acid on one spot, and made it darker than the rest.
Get aluminum mag wheel cleaner. Spray on and hose off. I use Mguirers. Use on a cold motor. Good-luck
That "on a cold motor" is key! Also read the directions, some clearly state "do not use on motorcycles". I bought some mag wheel cleaner that had been refomulated without reading the 'new and improved" on it and damaged my clear coat.
I ended up going to Sears and buying a cloth buffing wheel and bit that fit my Dewalt to bring it back up to OK.
If I had it to do over I would probably stick with theHarely products.
