I have had marks on pipes from time to time, I think from my boots. again today when I was cleaning the Bobber I once again noticed a mark on my exhaust,I don't think that it was my boot that made the mark, but whatever it was the neverdull got it off but had to rub a little.
You can get it at Wal-Mart, I use it on everything that shines on my bike. I just wipe it on, let it dry, and wipe it off useing a microfiber towel.
On our aircraft when ever somebody melts a probe cover to one of the probes we have mesh kits to get it off. It's super fine cloth sandpaper so fine it feels soft. We just wet it and rub takes a hell of a long time but the plastic comes off and the shine sticks. I'm sure there are easier methods as some of those listed but I just wanted to add my two cents.
