Shoe rubber on pipes

1) Start the bike
2) Hold it on the rev limiter for 30-45 seconds
3) have the ladyfriend remove her, now molten, shoe rubber with her fingernails
You'll have clean pipes and chances are those shoes will never touch the pipes again.

Thanks for all the replies. I had used a penny before and now I have easy off oven cleaner in my bag of tricks. I do know that oven cleaner will also eat the protective coating on aluminum sport bikes frames, that's a good way to start polishing them. Takes a few coats though.
