In the meantime... I screwed up. My knees we rested against the tank on my last ride and now there is a dull spot on each side of the tank. Any tips on bringing back the shine of buffing it out? I tried a little wax on the area but no luck.
What were you wearing??? Seriously, it would help to diagnose. Is you were in shorts and it's sweat, that's one thing. If it was Kevlar pants that might have scratched, that would be another. Give us a little more info, I'm sure there's somebody here who's done something similar. Art
Chaps do this all the time. Use a little Safe-Cut, or Scratch Out. You can get it or somethign like it at any auto store. It's a compound for removing minor scratches in clear coats, and it takes the chap dull right off, with no damage to the clear coat.
