Default Whats the BEST Engine cleaner

I have a 2002 Heritage ST that I bought used about 2 weeks ago. It looks pretty good but not the best. It looks like it was left wet a few times and I have not been able to get all of the spots off of the black parts of the motor. IS there something out there to get the engine back to black (hehe). I have already hit the fins with 220 and then 2000 to polish them back up and I have to say I like the smooth finish better than the machined finish, but I need to work on the BLACK parts now.

Any help or experiance would be appreciated.

For oily areas I use carb cleaner and a water hose however if I one thats really caked on I use the carb cleaner and a air hose ,this works good on a metal finish (not painted). On the wrinkle black I use mineral spirits the same way but,it will not leave a white film behind.

Mineral spirits, I never thought of that. It has the white residue on it from I guess soap, or hard water, so I will try that and the s100 next. Thanks guys.

I like to use "Scrubbing Bubbles." I spray it on the engine dry, let it soak for a few minutes and hose it off. Does a great job and it's much cheaper than S100.
