Default Waxing your chrome

I just wonder if it is good to wax your chrome?
Like using Meguiars (Gold Class) on the chrome parts,
is this a good idea or is their some reason not to do this?
Thanks

I had my lowers and triple trees chromed for my chopped 87 last spring and the chromer told me to wax them first thing because no matter how nice and smooth they look after chroming they can still have microscopic pinholes and scratches . After waxing these are filled in and smoothed over, if they are not waxed moisture can get a foot hold and give rust a place to start.

Thank You J.B.
I really thought it was good to wax the chrome,
but everyone chats so much about the paint care,
but never seems to mention how they care for the
chrome. I have an "05" FXDWG with lots O chrome
to take care of and just want to do it right.

Thanks again!

Cool, I have an 05 FXDWGI also, Lava Red.

And, as I know the chrome needs attention, but I think a heavy paste wax my get kind of smeary, I use the Maguairs NXT Speed Detailer, it is clear as water, is high tech, meaning it is a polymer that seals the surface, but is very thin. Just enough to protect and leaves a streak free crystal clear finish. Any overspray just disappears on the black engine powder coat.

Dave,

I use a product call "Protect All". It can be used on almost all surfaces. Qucik and easy to use and works great.

Here is a blurb about it...

Protect All™ is a do-it-all product that cleans, polishes, waxes, treats, and protects all surfaces. Protect All's™ water repellent carnauba wax formula provides a durable protection against all elements.

Simply spray, wipe, and polish dry for a durable, lasting shine. Protect All's™ anti-static property is ideal for treating vinyl and leaves no oily film. With regular use, Protect All's™ UV additive helps protect all surfaces by absorbing the UV light rays and blocking them from reaching the finish.

Yes, Speed Detailer is for cleaning when things are not real dirty. Spray on a mist, wipe with a microfiber then buff with another microfiber. Does paint, chrome, etc. I do it after each ride in good weather, so never gets dirty and looks like new. First wax with NXT High Tech wax and maintain it with NXT Speed Detailer unless real dirty. It is a polymer and goes on very thin, can do exhaust, gets hot and no streaking, goes on clear as water. But, be sure to only use microfiber towels. I spray the towel and apply it when doing chrome near black engine, just to be extra careful with the black.

I was careful with the NXT wax near the black engine, just did it once, figure the Speed Detailer and / or good washing with NXT Car Wash when dirty will keep all in good shape.
