I have a '97 RKC. Both tires have gunk built up all around the rims and I have tried everything to remove the substance to no avail. I have used Simple Green, Blue Magic, 409, etc. I have embedded photos and begging for help. Does anyone have any recommendations of what I can use to remove this. Thanks for all the suggestions.....
I've uses NEVR DULL, it's a cotton wadding and works well to polish and removes some nasty stains. It will make your hands really black because of the aluminum but it washes off.
I have the same problem with my rims,i'm using the symichrome polish, takes for ever to rub these stains off,but it does look better where i have done it,will be a good winter project, lol I'll have plenty of time
I've tried mild abrasive polishes and have had good results...products such as Autosol or Flitz might be worth trying on your rims. It will take some elbow grease but if superficial, these polishes are good at working them out.
Personally, for AL, I'd take the rims off the bike, clean em, use muriatic acid (diluted), and have them clear coated to prevent further build up.
But, thats just me [8D]
I usually use Castrol Super Clean, it's a detergent similar to Simple Green. In my opinion, it is a far superior product for removing grease, grime and road junk. Once clean, I then use Mothers polish.
