I've heard of guys using Pledge (the furniture polish) on their motorcycles. Pledge has a new product called "Pledge Multi Surface Everyday Wipes" which comes in a small resealable packet. They would be handy to carry on a long extended trip to clean the bike up.

Does anyone have any idea whether this would harm the paint or not?

 

No it will not. many have used it for years like a detailing spray.
I Have used it on paint a chrome for a long time.
This bike seldom had anything but Pledge used on it.
