Need Some Advice!!
OK - I was trying to be helpful, really! Hubby got some gunk from his shoes/chaps on the pipes and I scrubbed it off but left some fine scratches
]Is there a way to fix it? Or should I just go pay for my cemetary plot? []And there's still some gunk on there that I need to get off and wondered how to do it without scratching it anymore! Thanks for the help!

It will be difficult to repair chrome plating with deep scratches because it's a coating. If it were just an uncoated metal you could sand it with varying grades of sandpaper to high shine, but you aren't that lucky. You can try using a heavy, medium, and fine cut-cleaner, which is normally used on paint, but may work to finely cut down the surrounding plating and give it a smooth look again. This will take some elbow grease and time to do.
