Default Winter Storage

Hello all, I keep my bike in a 10x12 new shed and would like to know what's the best way to keep engine bolts and nuts from oxidation while storing? I always wash and wax all painted and chrome parts before storing. Depending on the type of winter you have(dry, very damp, overcast alot, etc. really depends on how much protection you need!! Any and all input will be greatly appreciated,Thanx

I spray a coating of WD40 on my snowmobile engine, pipes, suspension, etc. and that really works well; I use to do the same on the dirt bikes. For the street bikes I mist on spray wax, cover it up and clean the dust and crap it attracts.

I look forward to hearing what others do for winter storage in the snowbelt.

Now there's no need to be talking about that already.

I use the S100 corrosion protectant. I just spray the entire bike down before it goes away for a few months. Clean it off in the spring. One thing that is important if you have a concrete floor. Stick a piece of wood under the kickstand so there is no metal to ground conduction.

I live near the sea, so salt in the air is a pita. I started using ACF50 ( used by tHe Navy on aircraft at sea) and I have had no further corrosion issues.

ACF 50 is a bit costly compared to some other sprays, but it is not just a water displacer - it is really persistent, doesn't attract crap, and really stops corrosion in its tracks. I use it all over the bike (except brakes!) and it really helps. Even the unpainted alloy edges on my wheels stay clean and bright longer.
A little goes a LONG way, too - I often spray a little into the cap and apply it with a kid's paint brush into tight areas.
And no: I don't have any affiliation with the company. I get mine from Amazon after a buddy in naval aviation confirmed what I had read about it.

Ordered the same from Amazon last night. The cost is cheap insurance for what it does and the happiness is brings in the spring!
