Hi guys, just a quick question. Is the Fat Bob a lot bigger bike that the Street Bob? If so, in which ways?
I rode a Street Bob a while ago and it felt a lot smaller but it has near mid controls and odd bars. If I bought a Street Rod I would have to put forward controls and better bars on.
Are they actually the same bike underneath and just feel different due to the set up?
The Street Bob has a 96 and the Fat Bob has a 103 too. Is that right?
They are really the same size and the current models '14 or '15 have the same motor (twin cam 103). How big they feel really depends on the set up. If you are pretty tall, the standard mid controls on the Street Bob might feel a little cramped but if you put forward controls on it you will feel a lot more comfortable. Bottom line is they are pretty much the same size bike and you can customize either with seat, handlebars, and controls to make it the right "size" for you.
They're pretty much the same bike...other than cosmetics. I test rode both before I decided on the street bob. The forwards on the fat bob...or any dyna don't feel comfortable to me. And I've had forward controls on a couple metrics I used to own. I've got a 32" inseam and feel like I lose some control with the forward setup the fat bob has...actually the mid mounts are more comfortable for me. That being said, I did add the highway peg brackets to mine, just to stretch out a bit when I want. Just my 2 cents
