Yeah, I keep looking at some baggers and think it's a nice setup. Even curious about the new Indian bagger that looks sweet, but I know that I'll miss my dyna. The wife keeps asking if I'll trade it in when I see ones I like and the answer is always no.
In 2005 I traded in my Sportster on a 2005 FXDI. I added a windshield, Corbin seat, Stage 1, forward controls, a set of Boss Bags, a mustache bar and some miscelaneous chrome.
I rode the bike from NY to Sturgis and back, from NW Arkansas to Key West Fla and back, as well as numerous round trips from NY to NW Arkansas. The trips to Arkansas were 1350 miles and I always did them in two days.
The way the bike was set it was just about perfect.
Then in 2009 I drank the Touring bike Kool Aid and traded my Dyna on a 2009 Street Glide. When I traded the Dyna it had given me 45,000 trouble free miles.
In 2013 I sold the FXDI (two kids in college) with 35,000 miles on it. In spring 2016 I got the urge to ride again and picked up a 2009 Road King but still missed my Dyna.
I sold the Road King this summer, thinking I was done riding, but I am now starting to look at Dyna's again.
Hoping to pick up a nice used Dyna Custom or Street Bob.
To me the only thing missing from my 2005 was the six speed transmission for riding the super slab.
Think you Made a Smart Choice with the 2005 .. Am a Bit Prejudice on this view .. But never parting my my 2005 FXD unless some fool wants to pay me what I think it's worth which is about Double Book Value ..

Regrettably I traded that bike in 2009. Looking to get a 2007 or newer FXDC, FXDB or FXDL if I can find one with around 15,000 miles (or less) for around $5k. I've thought about another 2005 but I think I'd like the 6 speed. I always felt that the bike could use a 6 speed on the interstate.
I may go and look at this bike this weekend => 2011, 7k miles $5500, Fwd Controls and looks like SE Exhaust..
I figure it will need a set of tires. Not crazy about the color but looks like a pretty good deal.
