Well it happened. My tire is worn past the stupid extended tire plan that I bought. I guess I should have paid more attention to it, but it is awfully hard when you are commuting everyday.
Does anyone know how much it is to replace the rear tire on an 06 FXDBI at the stealer and has any one attempted to change one themselves?
I had mine changed about a month ago. I got just over 8000 miles on my slick.Don't have the $ amountonhand but can check when I get home. It was cheaper for me to buy the tire from Zanottis and pay shipping than buy the tire from the Stealer. I think the stealer wanted $65 to change the tire if it was on the bike and $35 if you bring the wheel in, plus disposal fees, etc.
Don't know them off hand.I canpost themtonight, unless someone else responds. It's a good idea to replace the tube and rimband at the same time. Got those from Zanottis too.
Paid $206, installed at my dealer 3 weeks ago for a new rear tire with new tube and tube strip. No charge for labor because the dealer charges retail for the parts. Thought it was a fair number.
The tire retails for $166.95 in the P&A Catalog. Tube is around $22 and strip is a couple of bucks.
I shopped another local HD dealer who quoted the same retail prices...but also was charging $57.95 per hour labor. My tire took about 50 minutes to change out.
Tire special....That is one good thing that I can say about a local shop here, Wytheville Harley Davidson. They will sell you any Harley tire for 99 bucks if they mount it. You can carry in your wheel and get it done for about 140 bucks.
It used to be a little better. Used to, they would sell you any tire cash and carry for 99 bucks. I bought several from them.
I just replaced the rear tire on mine. I got almost 12k miles out of the OE tire. I didn't go conventional though. I ordered a Dunlop D220 170-60-17 from here http://www.motorcycle-superstore.com...amp;division=6. It was on sale when I bought it for 120 something shipped. Then I paid a local shop 14 dollars to balance it. I mounted it myself, so total spent is around $140. I can't comment on the tire Ipicked to mount since I only have little over 100 miles on it. So far I like it though.
