Getting to ready to go take a look at a used street bob with super low miles...appears to be a rarely ridden ultimate garage queen. Anything I should be weary of or look out for? It's an '07 and the guy stated that was the best year of the 96...not sure what he means by that.
Just worried that if it was sitting around too long it may be worse off than one that was properly used and maintained....I think it may still have the original tires.
I bought my first bike this fall. An 07 FXD with 3800 miles. Brought it to a great Indy shop for a full once-over. Ended up replacing both brake master covers. That was it really aside from fluid swap and spark plugs.
Except, I was not comfortable on 7 year old tires (neither was the shop). So I swapped out for new tires. My battery, the original, will need to be replaced within a year I'd say, but for now no issues starting the bike.
i'm not BS'ing you...i just bought a bone stock 06 with 475 miles...the guy i got it from unfortunately got sick right after the purchase...he was holding on to it hoping he would get better...i did swap out tires and battery, changed fluids etc....did a ton of mods...bike has been great
Well it could be up to almost 9 years old depending on build date. If it's been stored inside and basically hibernating all this time the main concern for me would be dry seals. When not getting ran the oil doesn't get circulated which let's the seals dry out . When they get dry from non usage they can leak oil. Key word is CAN leak oil. It isn't always the case but something to be aware of. This isn't just harleys but engines in general. This happened to me when I bought my 2002 garage queen. After a few days the rocker box started leaking oil. Was not a huge deal to fix but it was from sitting so much.
Anyway...try to run it as much as you can before buying to see if anything seeps. Even if it does a little somewhere it's a good way to lower the price more and fix it at home ( depending on where it is). Keep in mind the bike could be on the edge of 9 years old too when negotiating. I know it's hard to think 2007 was that long ago.
Honestly though I seriously doubt you will find a problem with it. It's highly unlikely any seals went bad especially if it got started periodically. But it's just something to be aware of
I bought my 02' with 10.5k miles on her. It's been a great bike so far, no regrets! Like others said, tires, battery, plugs, fluids and you should be good to go. As far as mine, I'll be changing the front tire (not original, but mfg. is 07') soon, it just had new rear tire and brakes, battery, and fluids service before I bought it. I plan on changing the the front brakes when I get the new tire, and swapping the brake fluid and fork fluid soon. Go for it, you'll love it!

Want to pull the trigger for sure, but it's gotta be at the right price too. The low mileage also makes it somewhat difficult to figure out it's true value. I have Nada and KBB pricing to go buy, but they usually account for a baseline of mileage that this particular bike does not have. Oh well, we'll see what happens today, wish me luck.
You didn't say what the seller was asking, but I wouldn't add any book value for low miles. As mentioned above, you'll probably have some expenses such as tires and maybe a battery and you should get it serviced, at least depending on when the fluids were changed last.
I'd tell him to go try to trade it or sell to a Dealer, they aren't going to give him extra $$ for the low miles or all the chrome and extras he has added. I'd stick with NADA or KBB pricing and go from there. Dealers are going pay trade-in or less, but ask full retail or more.
I recently picked up my 07 Street Bob with 3100 miles on it. Previous owner kept it outside under a tarp and appeared to never clean it. I scooped it up for cheap, replaced all the fluids, and put the stock mid-controls on (forward controls installed wrong). My tires have a little dry rot and cracking so I will most likely change those. I also need to replace the master brake cylinder cover.
Other than that I've had no problems with the 200 miles I've put on it!
Hi, I have a 2007 street bob owned from new. Now done a shade under 30,000 miles with no problems. Great distance bike with forwards. All I have done throughout its life is change the oil / filter every 2500 miles.
Just fitted new grips and swopped out the speedo for a combo 4" unit. It's like I got a new bike !
