Thank you gentlemen for all of your assistance. I have unfortunately been deployed to the gulf for last 6 months, so I have had little time to update this post. However; I have made some final decisions based upon the information some of you have provided.
I have decided to go with a 98 upgrade, which is pretty big for the stock 88, but I have been in contact with Dan Vance of Dan Vance racing, and he has had quite a bit success with the setup. It will of course include porting and polishing, as well as a boring of the throttle body to accommodate more airflow. I will use Bobby Woods cams as he is a literal genius when it comes to lift, and torque for that matter. And I believe I will be switching to a gear driven cam system because it eliminates chain slap (an issue of little importance) and it can in most cases, quiets down the entire drive.
I am not much further than that. I will be sure to post pics when I get back home, but for now, the only other thing to say is that if you dont have a copy of "donnys unauthorized technical guide" Volume II: Performancing the twin cam, I have found some very valuable information in it. Donny knows what he is talking about.
Update: Just wrapping up 10 months of deployment and have a ton of cash in my pocket. Which has led me to begin purchasing parts for a bike I dont even have yet. I decided I could not ride another bike without seeing James Winchell at Forbidden Motorcycles for risers and Bars. Attached is the photo before mailing. I can't even wait to get home. I have also worked out details with Dan Vance for the motor. I still don't have the damn bike, but I WILL!!
