I got a Roland Sands intake from a buddy for my '13 Wide Glide. Question is, what sort of maintenance does the filter require? I have heard there are filter sprays for these type assemblies, but not sure how often i need to spray it. The filter that came with is a bit dirt and dry. Suggestions?
It's a K&N filter. Buy a recharge kit from your local parts store, use the cleaner, wash it out throughly, dry, then reoil.
I clean my K&N in my truck with every oil change. Being so exposed on the bike. You may want to clean it twice as often, they're really not the best filters if you're looking for clean air, rather than flow rate. So keep it clean and oiled.

Make sure not to oil it too heavily. Just need a light coat, don't try to "paint" it. The good thing of it being in the open you can tell if it's dirty pretty easily. The front area will get dirty sooner.
Just to add a couple of things, a "dirty" K&N filters better than a clean one. Don't ever use compressed air to clean or dry it, it will damage the cotton filter media.
Instructions say to spray the cleaner from the inside let it work then wash it out with water from the inside out. Let it dry lightly oil the outside and reinstall it. Only what the box says.

Why just spray the cleaner from the inside? Spray both sides and let it soak for 10 minutes.Be sure and not let the cleaner dry and only rinse with low pressure from the inside out. Rinse until there is no sign of dirt or cleaner. Repeat if necessary. Let it dry thoroughly before oiling.
