I have a 2004 FXD with the stock narrowglide front end w/39mm tubes. My end goal is to convert to a "standard" 16" spoke wheel up front. From what I can see and find digging around the forum & the web I understand there's no "easy" way to use the narrowglide f/e to mount a 16" wheel such as I wish to do without machine work or custom fab work which I don't have the knowledge/skill to do.
Can anyone inform me which model(s)s & year(s) wide glide (or mid-glide?) front ends would "bolt on" to my '04 Dyna FXD frame's neck so I can begin my search for parts? I know there are wide-glide & mid-glide conversion kits out there that could make use of my 39mm tubes...but working on a tight budget it seems a full assy. from a used bike could be much cheaper (as long as I know ahead of time what will fit)...so I'm trying to find out which used parts would match up without mod work...
ANY help or direction would be most appreciated as I'm starting from zero Thanks in advance for any info!
If you can get a Dyna Wideglide front end from 2000 to 2005 it will bolt right on and your steering lock will still work and your stock brake caliper will bolt on , another option is the FXST softail standard or night train fork will work if you cut off those wings that are used as stops on the softail frame and it too will allow for the steering lock to work, now for front wheel myself I used a Heritage front wheel with a 1/4 spacer for the brake rotor, and for wheel spacers I just ordered Heritage softail spacers
Geez...couldn't ask for a more helpful answer. Exactly the info I was looking for.
Robtarra39 - as my Father used to say - "you are a gentleman and a scholar". Thank you!
I've got a chrome wide glide that I'm looking to swap straight across for a narrow glide.
It's got a 21" wheel, but a 16 would bolt right up.
Mine's a 2001 FXDWG and the front end has about 20,000 miles on it since the thing was taken apart and chromed and reassembled with all new seals.

I have the same situation with wanting to change a 2003 narrow front end FXD. No money while I'm building a Softail but would love to swap out for the wide glide. What other parts would be needed like bearings, shafts or seals?
