I have an 06 and I ran the dealer download for 8 years with no problems. A couple years ago I added Oied's (specific to 06's). They cooled the engine down a little and stopped what minimal popping there was on decel. This past summer I decided to go for a PowerVision tuner. The main reason I made the switch was because I was tired of looking at the check engine light every time I came to a stop light, that is an issue with the Oied's.
The bike runs better with the tuner, but not by much. The biggest change comes at lower rpm. It is a lot harder to lug the engine and it runs smoother when running along at just above an idle rpm. There was no power gain, I have read numerous posts here about how a tuner unleashes all this power that has been detuned at the factory. It didn't happen on my bike! I'm happy with the PowerVision but it's not a night and day difference. If you go that route don't get your expectations too high.
My bike is stock with an SE air cleaner and SE pipes.
