Hey Guys,
I have a 2013 wide glide and am going to make some changes this winter. I plan on V&H slip ons and a K&N high flow air cleaner. No other changes for a long time to come.
I have narrowed down my shoices of tuners to 3.
1) A V&H feul pac
2) PC-V
3) Possibly XIEDS. Since I plan no other mods.
I mainly cruise around town and on occasion, 2 up trips.
I am techno retarded, so it has to be plug and play or so simple even a mental midget can program it!
What do you guys recomend?
In t he same boat as you as doing just a typical Stage 1 then when I leave Hawaii and get back to the mainland going to trade up to a touring. For me I'm getting the Vigilante EZ, easy to use and just what I need. When I get the new bike going to get a much better tuner as that will be my last bike I buy, also momma gave me the go ahead to do what I want to it when I get it.
Hello Joe i not a fan of any them piggy back plug in boxes. Seen to many of them cause more trouble then they fixed. Quite honestly it sounds like you just want a tune that make the bike safe to ride am i right? I just go to your local Harley shop and have them flash it with a canned tune (stage1) and be done with it. Money wise it be the same or maybe less then some the options you making.
Now that's interesting latrobedyna,
I'm much in the same boat as joe40x,, my first bike with EFI and doing a stage1 in my garage with gathered parts.(09 FXD) Not interested in going too cams with this bike.
Of course each company say's theirs is the best and the only real source we have is forums like this with folks sharing their personal experiance. There are about a gazillion threads on this forum about tuners with +/- about nearly all of them, so much so that it's nearly impossible to determine which one indeed is better than the other. But by far the worst reviews are from the Stock HD canned tunes, here, from indiy's and all over the net,, because they are dealers of OEM,, they have to stay within the emission guide lines.
Hey joe40x:
How did you par it down to the 3 on your list?
I don't need Racing or High Performance nodes or unlimited variables with this plain jane engine and bike
I'm thinkin Fuel Moto, sight sponsors, reasonable cost and I've seen plenty of good reviews.
To be honest most of the bad reviews I've seen of any of'm are because of a bad install of the hardware, bad plug-in/location jobs or poor/corroded contacts.
You hinted that you may be doing future upgrades. I would go with something that you can keep through all your mods like the PowerVision. Its costs more up front, but with future upgrades I would think you would save money in the long run
TTS Mastertune is another option & what I'm personally getting ready to go with as I feel it will best fit my build & future plans etc. Lots of info on tuners you can look into to see what might fit you best. PV,TTS,SEST, TMAX all good options but there are differences.
I have a 13 Heritage. I added Arlen Ness Big Sucker II, Vance and Hines Straight Shot slip on's. I just installed a Vance and Hines Fuelpak3 last week. Was very simple. Just plug in and uploaded a map from my app on my iPad. You can also control it using your Android phone. fpk3 also allows you to do a simple auto tune. Allows you to tweak as well as diagnostic's readings.

I bought my bike with the stage 1 already done with a V&H Fuelpak from the previous owner. I installed xieds because I had them on a previous bike and liked them. With the fuelpak and xieds the bike runs great and has plenty of power. Like you, I'm not going to do any other mods and don't see the need for a full tuner. Just my opinion.
