I did the 30/70 and it was fun. 30/68 so so....... 30/72 hold on buddy.....played with a bunch of combos, SPENT LOTS OF MONEY.
Went with the evolution 30 tooth when I finally went chain.
The cheapest way as I see, to get the best gearing rather than replacing clutch basket, motor sprocket, or tranny pulley, ......is simply to go with the V-rod 72 tooth pulley and a longer belt. Leave your original 32 tooth tranny pulley alone, no need to buy a tool and use once. If you look around e-bay you can find custom 1-inch (aka 28mm) 72 tooth pulleys( got one sitting around now) that bolt up to aftermarket wheels. Replace your stock pulley and belt. All it involves is pulling the primaries, so gaskets and fluids are the only extra expenses.
my opinion after countless primary incursions,
filth
Yet to hear of this....learn something new everyday! Trial and error is the name of the game till you got'em where you want her.
Now does the vrod pulley bolt to stock Dyna wheels fine?

you must find an aftermarket pulley. the stock cush drive setup will not work. Performance Machine, RC Components makes them. I have one from RC Components that match my wheels
the aftermarket 1 inch (aka 28mm) 72 tooth pulley that is designed for the aftermarket wheels that go on 240mm V-rods. The pulley that have matches the Savage Eclipse wheels. It will fit Standard Harley bolt pattern with the 2.22 inside diameter ............it is for sale if any one wants it!!
no rain riding at this time! I have the debris deflector and belt guard from a V-rod I will eventually mount up, the grease from the chain is a major b#tch to clean.
A good friend/coworker of mine had his '99 superglide pretty much just like that but actually cut the struts off and mounted the bullet signals under the solo seat and had a 200 tire on it. He rocked it like that for a long time, it was definitely different and the bike felt so light. He finally decided rain sucked too much and welded struts back on it. I wish I had pictures of it.
