Over time, with the crankcase venting into the air cleaner and throttle body, you have sticky build up which reduces air flow. No, I have not measured the difference between a clean a/c and tb versus ones that are fouled up, but I've seen some pretty gunked up (that's a technical term) a/c and tbs.

I would think you would get better performance, if nothing else like was mentioned earlier, just clean. Did I miss you posting what you did with your horn? Tossed it in the parts bin?
I have the DK set up (love it by the way) and have noticed a little blow by on my bike. Usually right after getting the bike serviced. I noticed once the oil level gets a little lower that stops. You might play with your oil level a bit and see if that helps. Maybe put some sort of filter in there to stop smelling oil? Maybe a piece of washable filter media?

Not sure about the over time, I dont think so. Like i said, i didnt come up with this idea, i based it off of another forum members concept. I feel like if that was an issue, he would've posted about it.

parts:
- Catch can from Amazon, by HDM performance (or something like that, its a go-kart company) about 20$

- Rubber plumbing seal, comes in a square from Lowes
- Electrical conduit hangar, i think 1.5 inch also from Lowes
- 1/4" fuel line from auto parts store
- two 1/4" brass barbed fuel line connectors, basically just a straight fitting to connect two hoses
- 1/4" brass barbed t-fitting
- a drill to drill the stock air cleaner backplate

I disconnected the horn. I have literally never used. I may look into getting the DK Custom horn relocation kit when i order my intake...maybe. To me it feels more responsive, but even if the power is the exact same, my purpose wasn't for a performance mod. It was for overall health, cleanliness and to stick it to the EPA. I also am going to do a DIY catch can for my car soon.

I just got rid of the horn, never used it. The only downfall is that there is very little room to play with. I don't want to move the can down too much more because than it will show outside of the cow bell. I'll look around, maybe a sponge-like filter element might work.

That's what I was thinking of. Something like a small sponge. If you can pull it out and clean it, should be good.

Wonder if you can make a catch can....looks like it might be doable with some PVC pipe and a fitting or 2.

Did you read the thread? A catch can is exactly what this thread is about. fxdc_9613 fashioned an external breather system that empties into a catch can!!!

I thought about making a catch can, then found a ready made one for fairly cheap. Saved some effort, spent some money and just modified slightly.

I just ran a hose straight down between the motor and transmission.

Yeah, that's definitely am easier option. I just wasn't a fan of all that hose showing, wanted something much more concealed. To each is own

9613, this may be a dumb question but shouldn`t the tubes to the catch can be lower than the air cleaner assembly so it does not have to blow the oil up?
