Here's my set up, I've been copy/pasting this for a while in several Breather Vent threads, The only problems I've had are the Petcock wouldn't drain, Got clogged up so switched to just a threaded plug. One time I let it go too long without draining and bit dripped a little. I took it off the other day for cleaning and that cone shaped vent/filter was building up gunk inside. I may need to replace it with another type filter but don't want to have to move the can lower. Also that red rubber plumbing gasket material was drying out and getting brittle and cracking, So replaced it with a new piece.

I still think I came up with one of the best/cleanest looking, invisible mods so far.If I do say so myself.

Copied and pasted my solution from one of the many threads about crankcase breather venting.

Also lots of good info, ideas, and photos in this thread,
https://www.hdforums.com/forum/touri...-included.html

This is what I came up with after being unable to find any system that would work with a SE stage one backplate, I went with dual hoses parallel to bottom of rocker box covers then down to hidden catch can in cowbell. Marine shrink wrap over fittings tapped into backplate really cleaned it up.

This is why. I didn't have a lot of oil drippng, But enough to make a mess on cam cover, pipes, side cover, and front of saddle bags if I didn't clean the filter every week or so. It looks like this because the moisture and oil are being shaken like a paint mixer in the cowbell. Glad this gunk isn't going in my intake.

My hoses run parallel/level with the bottom of rocker boxes, Then down to cowbell. No uphill travel. FXDC 9163 I zip tied hoses to intake manifold and made sure there is no extra length in hoses to hump up. Makes installing/Uninstall a pita.

Not a dumb question and logically, yes. Except my hoses travel such a small degree upward that I don't think it will matter.

I'll double check, but I'm pretty sure my hoses don't hump up too much. I think I cut them a tad short for the T connection.

Check out the charts below.

Lots of us have been re-routing these since Harley started having to route the hot oily oxygen depleted air into the air cleaner per the EPA many years ago.

Not only is hot air a negative for power, oil does not combust like gas and air, & that air is mostly exhaust gases, depleted of oxygen (which is the purpose of air in the combustion chamber). All power robbers.

Here you can see the clear difference in power-

That crap also gums up carbs, the IAC in throttle bodies, and builds carbon deposits on pistons. Just nothing good about it at all.

Some of the external breathers in this thread are really nice. For easy bolt-on external breathers, take a look at this LINK

I really don't understand the perceived need to hide these modifications. Who are you hiding them from? You guys do realize that the EPA doesn't have field agents who inspect our bikes, right? Also, nobody who isn't an expert on bikes knows anything about crankcase ventilation. So who are you guys so afraid of? Just run the **** to the ground like it was meant to be and be done with it.

It's a matter of preference, not fear. I just don't like the look of the running hoses. I prefer a cleaner look, so I attempted this hidden set up.
