Default Battery Cover

I just saw a post about painting a battery cover and figured I'd throw this out. I recently purchased a chrome name plate for my Dyna. I was surprised that a part that heavy was secured with just two sided tape, and being that there was a little play in the mount I decided to beef it up with some gorilla glue. Well like an idiot, I let a couple drops drip through the underside of the plate on onto the lower front side of the battery cover.

Short of sanding it down and re-painting, does anybody have any suggestions as to how this can be removed without damaging the paint?

man really no good way you can try to sand it out and buff it, but it all depends if you have a wrinkle or painted box, that is 3m double sided tape by the way every 1" section will hold 3lbs, you have about 6" there that trans to about 18lbs of stay force, it is way over kill for a battery band man. no need for the glue at all

*hit happens, what can you do!

What color is your bike?

Because this could be viewed as an omen to get both covers color matched to your bike!

See how nice these things can turn out sometimes :ico n_bike:

Those adhesives on emblems and reflectors and anything else are strong. Hell, they require a little elbow grease of concerted effort to remove.

Sorry friend, not with that stuff, your SOL.
Take it as a lesson learned. Remove the battery cover, place it flat on a table, face up,,

Gadd's, I do not like that Gorilla glue stuff, sure it holds, and yes it's strong, but the whole proper use, wet surface foaming thing is a PITA.
I'll opt for a good two part epoxy every time.
Especially in cases like this, I don't want "Easy Application, Simple fix",, I want forethought and careful use

Sand and repaint it. When I pulled the ugly gold emblem off my 17 year old battery cover, it bent the emblem. You will be fine with the 2 sided tape.

Yea, I saw that post (that's what triggered mine). That's your blue bike? The case looks great! I have one of those rare black Harleys so my cover already matches.
