I'm in the same boat just waiting to start the install. Have all the fluids, 57s, crank run out tool just sitting on my desk. Was waiting to purchase the remaining items on my list & bouncing around threads, trying to be sure I dont miss something. May have dug too much, in another thread UltraNutz commented about ccp with the 57 in a 103 and since I've been playing around w/#s on the BigBoyzHeadPorting for TC compression calculator. Whatever you do DO NOT go there, super cool site that you can see stock CCP vs any change/cam.
Guess I'm considering pushing off till spring when Id be able to do some mild head work and increase compression a bit... I want to put these cams in so bad, BUT since I'm going in why not just bump compression via a head gasket & a mild street port? Easy right!
The 57s will work better with compression but still work great without - just another reason these cams are so good. You could wait if you want but there is no big reason to except maybe not having to cut the prs out and maybe not having to take the exhaust off twice.
I've got my list and have everything at this point with exception of the gear locking tool which I decided to order today. I'd be there right next to you getting the work done except we're now in the busiest time of year for my work so no days off until at least January 5th. But I plan to make the swap on that day and then do front forks shortly afterward!
All i did was lowered the bike on the ground in gear and held the front brake to torque the cam chain bolts.
Jeez you make it sound easy. That's what I was planning to do as well, then I was watching a video of a guy doing it and made it seem like you needed a helper (which I don't have) to properly torque while holding the brake. So decided to buy the tool ($18). Sounds like money wasted.
I do plan to sell my heartland tool once done with the change so guess I can throw this in too! Although part of me is thinking that I know 2 others that are considering cam changes over the next year and I'd like to be able to offer help if my own goes well.

No it's not that bad at all.
So I got to ride her to autozone and holly **** am I impressed. So with that said I approve this message and nor do I condone anyone riding like i do.
So ,I like to go fast and was able to stretch her legs on an empty back road. I was in 4th gear and gunned it, 5790 rpm and had plenty to go and hit 115 mph. On the way home I took the freeway And 6th feels like the power I have in 5th. Just roll on and she scoots. Big smiles are we're on my face the WHOLE time. Well worth the asspain I went through for this upgrade.
