My Street Bob needs new tires. I'm Happy with the Michelins that came on it. They wore about even, and I got about 14000 miles out of them. The ride and traction they provide are adequate for the way I ride. My question is, are they worth the $560 that the dealer wants for the tires tubes and strips. Is there a big difference between the Scorcher and the Commander? Are there other tires that will last as long and provide the same ride? I've had Dunlops on my other bikes, and never got more than 5-8k out of them. Looking for opinions. Thanks in advance.
I think your tires are the same as my 2014low rider, when they wear out, I will go with the michelin commander 2, cycle gear has them for around $300 for the both, likely just as good or better then the OEMs.
Check out the Avon Cobra's. Commander II's are definitely an upgrade from stock tires, but in my opinion the Avons perform better. I ran a set of Commanders before the Avons I have now
You might check out ebay as well. I got michlen commander 2 tires front and rear. I got my front on ebay for $110 with free shipping and my rear tire for $165 with free shipping.
I've been running Commander IIs for about 7K miles and I'm getting very good wear and decent
handling from them.
Motorcycle Super Store often has tire "discounts", (I won't call them sales), with free shipping.
Just Google "Michelin Commander II Price" and see what comes up. You'll be surprised by the huge
range of price differences. Shopping around will probably save you up to $200 on the tire / tube
price over what the dealer wants.
Commander II's, great tires ran them on my last bike. Going to put them on my bike soon. $237.98 for the set and free shipping from Rocky mountain ATV.
