I can't recall ever reading good things about heated grips on this forum, only early failures. You might consider looking into Gerbing heated gear. Just gloves are a PIA, having to route a harness through your jacket, but with a heated jacket or liner the connections are right were you need them.

Look at the Heat Demon grip heaters. I have them on my dyna and I love them. Ran them for over 36k on my road king and never had an issue

heated gloves would be faster, easier, and more efficient

Default Heated Grips

I have heated grips on my RGU...I wear water and windproof gloves and my hands stay toasty warm. In fact, I usually run the grips on 1-2 and when I first turn them on, I start on 3.
I have Gerbing heated gloves but It is easier to ride without the wire. I still also use the wired to the bike jacket liner on really cold rides.

I've been running Polly Heaters on my last 3 motorcycles and my son runs them on his dual sport. I was turned on to these by a good friend who is really into snowmobiles quite a few years back. Inexpensive and just flat out work! http://www.pollyheaters.com/ph200.htm

I don't see why not. Obviously the type and thickness will affect how hot it gets.
to give you an example, my son initially had issues keeping the left side of an inexpensive set of gel grips secure on the bars of his KLR. He runs the snowmobile heaters and they get frigging hot as hell on high.

I kept the stock HD grips with the same snowmobile heaters and they work great. I use high to initially heat everything up and then switch to low for the rest of the ride. Works great.
