VHT thunderheader

VHT thunderheader
So I searched quite a bit and didn't come up with much. So here's the deal.. If anyone has ever bought a black thunderheader and actually rode the bike then I'm sure you've felt my pain on your $800 pipe turning brown at the heads. Well mine has now turned brown all the way to the collector weld at the baffle. I would really like to powder coat the pipe but the funds are not available for that right now so I'm thinking of painting it with VHT flameproof. I've read a lot of people having issues with the paint turning chalky not long after reinstalling the pipe. Also I'd like to paint it gloss but I believe the 1200-2000* paint only comes in flat and the clear isn't rated for the same temp rating. Anyone have experience with this paint on exhaust? Anyway to keep it from chalking up, and if not how long did it take to chalk up? The bike is down for a few more weeks so I'd like to paint the pipe while I wait, but that means it can't put it through the heat cycles to cure the paint for a while. That shouldn't be an issue right? I realize this probably belongs in the paint section but I thought this forum probably has more guys running a black th than others, not that this is th specific but I think this pipe has more finish issues then others
Thanks guys
Thanks guys

I did a Thunderheader with black ceramic paint from a rattle can a few years ago and it came out great and was never effected by heat.
You might want to try that.
Powder coating them is a bad idea because the heat of an exhaust pipe is too great for the coating.
There is a guy in Fresno that does ceramic coat for hot rods and I've used him before and was very satisfied by the results.

Try the rattle can ceramic paint, it'll pleasantly surprise you as long as you follow the application directions.
