I received bags that were scratched, and damaged. The viking label was cracked, the bottom was rubbed with the black paint missing, the bit thing was they do not fit a dyna which they were specifically ordered for. There is no way to make them work on a dyna. Maybe they sent the wrong bags, I have no way of knowing, there is no number anywhere to correspond to any particular bike. Even if they did fit, you have to drill out your own holes, this tells me that they are not made for any specific bike. I moved my tail lights to the rear of the bike and there is no position that they will fit. In any position up down forward and back they hit the shock and are still 2 inches away from the end of the bolt. To make them fit I would have to drill the top of the lid that is how far down they would have to go. Junk all the way around. You get what you pay for. Stay away they are junk
I bought a set for my wife's Honda Shadow. They were a pain in the *** to install, but once I got them on they're fine bags, especially considering how cheap they are.
I have a set of their hard leather bags, they are not bad, though I agree their customer service stinks as I had a problem with a bad lock on one of them and after being told a they would send a new one, have heard nothing since from them.
Put the Armor bags on my 07 FXD, had to move the supports because one of them hit the belt guard, they were a pain to put on but the seem pretty good once they are on, had to make sure I ordered the ones with the shock cut out.
I have the Spear model with the shock cutout. The quality of the bags are great for the price but the fitment leaves alot to be desired. I ended up tearing a hole in left side bag on first ride after installing because axle hit the bag. Was told by customer support I should have checked clearance before I rode it. Maybe I should have. But they were advertised to fit my bike with the supplied mounting kit. Never seen anything about shimming or anything like that in instructions. Next time I buy bags I'll call first. Just my thoughts on Viking.
Hi,
Just reached out to you. Hope to resolve this for you.
That definitely sounds like you got a set of bags damaged in transit. Sometimes the saddlebags do get scuffed up by UPS ( We've started putting more packing and bubble wrap now ). Sorry to hear about the confusion with the fitment.
If you want to send me an email at eddie@vikingbags.com I can also respond there.
Thanks!
Funny how many people have posted in the past about Vikings lack of response of phone calls and emails. Yet once they post a public thread to complain about it, Viking responds. Guess that's the best way to get their attention.
I have to agree that they are nice "low cost" bags. But be aware, they are one size fits all. They were not designed specifically for your bike. Because of this, they do/can require some fitment ingenuity.
Here are some photos of the box that was not damaged at all, and the damage that looks like it is factory defect to my eye and a few on how they fit the dyna. There is 3.5 inches of distance between the fender frame bar and the bags when the indent for the shock hits the shock itself. The mounting hardware is only about an inch wide. You can not adjust it any way to fit the dyna. I am assuming its not for a Dyan at all but some other bike. There is nothing I can find that says it is for a dyna on the bag or the box or any of the packing material.
