Default Noob question

Hey all, new to the forum and ready to purchase my first harley. I have found 2 I really like, the question is........which would you choose? Please add pros and cons to help me decide.

2008 Dyna SuperGlide Custom, 5k miles, 96 ci motor, lots of chrome goodies
$8995.00

2013 Street Bob FXDP , 1300 miles, 103 ci motor, also plenty of chrome goodies
$11,995.00

Thanks folks,
Blue

Oh yeah, money IS an issue, who doesn't want to save some cash, but I'm willing to pay the higher amount if the bike is the better choice.

Either one of them BLK?
Also ins might be cheaper on the older bike
both will be sweet rides.
But I gotta go with super glide ! What u save will lower your payment giving you more gas money.

Welcome to the forum.
Both bikes are gonna ride and feel pretty similar. Besides the size of the motor and cosmetics they are more or less identical. Of course, the 103 will have a bit more power. If that's worth $3K to you, then go for it. Does it have any warranty left?
If it was my decision and budget was a big consideration I would have no problem with the Super Glide Custom.

Either one would be a good choice. Both are very similar. You coukd also check out some brand new ones I think keystone hd in perryville has 0% financing on new bikes right now. If not you cant go wrong with either one.

since money is an issue then I would go with the '08 ~ 5 K miles is still considered a new bike IMO. What's more is a SGC is a beautiful bike, then again so is a street bob matter of fact the only dyna I'm not crazy about is the switchback.

My '08 fatbob has 55K miles and going strong.

I personally don't like the tail light on the recent fxdb, but to me that's not a deal breaker. A more recent bike will not necessarily be any more reliable than the older one. That said the 103 will only give a small power increase as nevil pointed out.

Welcome to the forums where you will always get hundreds of opinions and countless suggestions and ideas on how to upgrade your engine or looks of the bike you choose!

Yes!!!! we will help you spend your extra cash!

Default go with the 08

And the 3g's that you save, you can put together a nice package upgrade to the motor to pretty much blow away any stocker, 103 or 110........

Welcome.
You're on the right track going with a Dyna. It's a big bike, that can do little things is how I feel about mine.

I would say go with the Super glide custom.

Pretty much all a Street bob is a Super glide, that has been cut down, and given less chrome(normally.)
With the money option, I would go with the cheaper, then you can use the extra money for custom parts that fit you better. The biggest thing that I've learned is that HD stands for Hundred Dollar. A nice secret that the Dealer wont tell you though is Ebay can be a great option for getting your parts(Dealer told me $600 for a certain part, I found it on ebay for $100), as well as getting them off of the guys here. I've bought a lot, and haven't ever had a problem.

The engine size might be nice. I run a 96in 2011 Streetbob and I love it. There is a ton of power(Coming from a 1998 650cc) Vstar.

You said this is your first Harley, don't know if this is your first bike, or first harley. If it's your first bike, make sure you take the courses.

Make sure you post up some pics. Ride safe man!
