Brake dis discolored from heat - How to restore
Long story short, my front disc got overheated and changed color...anyway to get it back to normal?
I was wondering about heating it up some and using Easy-off oven cleaner...worked on my pipes.
I will probably have to sand it or something.
Anyone have a solution?

The thing to worry about is not that the color changed, but what it has done to the heat treating. Do what you will to restore the color, but keep a close watch for warping and small stress cracks.
The stuff they use on stainless steel cookware might do the trick, and most of that is very close to a wipe-on, wipe-off polish.

RE: Brake dis discolored from heat - How to restore
Ok, here's the long story.
I changed my bars but didn't have the right front brake line.
I thought i could just cap the caliper off and ride the bike without a front brake tillthe linearrived.
I wanted to test out the new bars so i went for a ride.
i only got less than a mile away when I felt the front end dragging a little. The pressure built up in the caliper and was squeezing the pads.
I turned around and went home.
I rode about 1 mile or less with the front brake dragging enough that I could tell it was on.
I don't really think major damage was done because the brake pads have already worn away the discolored area where they grab.
I just wanted toclean up the area around it.
I may not even mess with it now that it's finally getting nice enough to ride!
