I recently acquired a nice EVO project. Bike Is in pretty good shape except for the gas tank. The tank was customized at one point in its life in which the person removed the center filler neck and sending unit, filled in the area to smooth it out for a clean look. Then they moved the filler neck to the right side of the tank.
Now the problem; I can live with the way the tank looks but at some point the tank developed rust and had been Kreemed. Unfortunately the Kreem liner is now starting to bubble and flake off. Im not sure this is repairable seeing as how the Kreem has already been applied and I cant leave it in fear of a drivability issue once the Kreem flakes start to clog the petcock.
Now I turn to the forums for some suggestions. Maybe a different bike or year tank? Or maybe a one off or aftermarket tank??? I see some new ones out there but are out of the budget for this project.
