ANYBODY GOING TO LAUGHLIN NEXT WEEKEND? I M LEAVING FRI EVENING. THIS WILL BE MY FIRST RIDE GOING THAT FAR. ITS ABOUT 300 MILES FROM MY HOUSE. OR ABOUT ALMOST 4 AND A HALF HOURS AWAY.
The last few years the police presence there has soured me from going. I've been there at other times of the year and it's nice. It's also getting so expensive and corporate. Promotions companies now buying out hotel rooms and then reselling for ridiculous rates. $9 beers, $10 hamburgers. Maybe I'm just getting to be a sourpuss.
I've been to Laughlin several times gambling. Used to ride my '92 Lowrider from Long Beach Naval Station out to there. About 300 miles. Fairly smooth ride each time. Now I'm in Missouri, it's about 1400 miles to Laughlin. I doubt I'll make it this year. Laughlins still cool though. As long as the Hells Angels aint shooting it out at Sams Town or wherever they had that big OK Corral shoot out a few years ago.
When I was going out there and Vegas back in the early 90's you could hit the buffet's for about $8. Now I hear that everything is getting as expensive as any other town. Buffets up to $14-$15. Is it really getting that bad? I was actually thinking about moving out there for the weather and to take advantage of those buffets instead of having to go to the grocery store.
