why does anyone care? why did anyone bother reading the thread in the first place? Maybe no one cares what you think either. All I see is someone who sunk a lot of money & time in a bike just to sale it. Dick
I can only assume you don't have kids?
Sometimes you just have to do whatever it is that needs to be done for the sake of your kids and family. Despite all the time and work put in to something. Regardless of what you may lose. Unknowing of what you may or may not gain down the road.
Sometimes some things just have to be done when you put others before yourself.
I love my bike. I'd kick the **** out of you for my bike. Hell I'm so stubborn I'd rather get shot than let someone take it. But if I need to sell it for the sake of my kids? It's not even a question.
That's why I asked if you have kids. Most people who have children know that feeling. You can explain it but until you know it for yourself, it's just words.

True story bro...you don't know the feeling till you have a rugrat with your last name looking up at you...no other feeling in the world like it. Love my Harley, but love my little boy more.
I wouldn't even give this lunatic guy the pleasure if a response, just says junk to cause a stir in all posts. If he actually believes in the stuff he writes then I feel badly for the person who lives with the type of negativity it breeds.
Most of us "older" guys have sacrificed for our families as have our friends, partners, spouses, significant others. As said before, congrats to our OP for doing what makes sense for himself and the family he's accepted the the responsibility to care for. Too many in this world who don't.

Put the bong down my man, the word you were looking for is "sell". Sorry your ignorance poked through while you were bashing the man for standing up, being responsible for his family and making sure they were financially sound.
After 8 years enlisted in the US Navy, I passed by a once in a lifetime career opportunity advancement from E6 to LDO because my family needed me at home. Our son was born before my last deployment and I sold my beloved Triumph Bonnie to make ends meet. This was at a time when the Navy was not all gung-ho about taking care of dependents and every deployment put us in severe financial hardships. I knew I could provide for them better in the civilian sector so I moved on and ended up in Houston. This was in 1980.
Things were good for a couple of years, until 1982 when the oil market busted, Reagan all but destroyed corporate aviation by eliminating tax breaks which put a lot of aircraft techs and corporate pilots out of work. I was out of work for over a year and had to sell my Yamaha 650 along with most of my guns to make ends meet. I did not buy another bike until a couple of years ago. I missed riding very much but family took priority as I put my wife, myself, and then my son through college.
Now my son is grown and riding his own Harley, our home is almost paid for, and I am getting close to retirement and I am riding again...this time on a Harley.
Be patient and take care of your family...the opportunity to get another bike will come back around.

Well, if that`s all you see, then that`s all you see. Maybe someday, events in your life will dictate similar choices that you will have to make just like the OP did and 99% of the readers agree with.

That's because 99% of readers don't think with their heads, if the OP would have saved money (which is what some one with a family should do anyway) instead of dumping into modding a motorcycle he could have kept the bike and had money in the bank at the same time, which is what I said in my first post. And btw, reread the OP, he isn't selling the bike because he has to, he's selling it so his wife doesn't have to work. Not begrudging anyone or anything, just stating the facts, in todays world stating facts & truths gets you attacked..... but that's why the Jews Crucified Jesus too.
...stating facts & truths gets you attacked..... but that's why the Jews Crucified Jesus too.
If this guy were family, or a close friend, I could see some virtue in your choice to poke a finger at him. I suspect the real story, however, is that you made a jerk statement in a situation that didn't involve you, and you couldn't handle the backlash it stirred up.
Using "the truth" as an excuse to be a dick is bad juju. You should go get a ***** tattoo on your face.
