Default Stage 1 on WG

Hey guys,

I know this has been asked a lot but couldn't find one to help me out.

I ordered 2-in-2 big radius from V&H and it will arrive next week. However the big sucker and fuelpak won't get here after a few days.

Once I install 2-in-2 is it safe to ride until others come in? Heard some folks saying it's not so it's got me questioning myself and thought I'd ask with you all.

I know back in the day you could slap on a new exhaust as long as you don't touch the intake you could be fine without fuelpak or similar if you are not after the performance part.

All opinions welcome! :-)

You don't say what year your Wideglide is, but if it's '06 or newer, and all your sensors, electronic control module, and injectors are working correctly, you can probably go the full Stage One without needing any tuning at all.

I have two bikes that have been running fine that way (one for 7 years, and the other for 9). One was checked on a dyno, and no changes were recommended. Lots of other people here are also running Stage 1's without any tuning (aside from the tuning changes the computer makes automatically).

With a tune, you might gain something like an average of two horsepower across the band, and a little snappier throttle response. You can gain even more, if you're willing to push the tune to the point of compromising engine safety. You can decide whether the money spent to do that is worth it to you.

Big sucker China, SE USA. Both close to same flow. Op I would wait. Why run your pipes hot and listen to horrible decel pop and poor gain from you $ spent. Wait and do it right and you will be much better off with your satisfaction of your investment. Otherwise if you do as said in other replies you may as well send fuel pack back and be happy with poor mediocre performance.

Thanks for the reply, plan on doing something with the exhaust, already have a FL-VIED, want to see how it does with this, will likely go with a tuner if not satisfied, also think you made up my mind to go with the SE as is made in usa.
one note further, how much performance increase can one expect with stage 1 VS going further with different cams?
